Order of Christian Initiation – 6 Years to Adult

Baptism, Holy Communion, & Confirmation

Are you, or your child, thinking about joining the Catholic Church?

The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) prepares adults to join the Catholic Church and is a 1½- to 2-year process. OCIA is for adults who are unbaptized and need the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation, or adults who are baptized needing the Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation. The OCIA Program runs year-round starting with the OCIA Inquiry. Inquiry sessions are offered the first Sunday of the month at 10:00 am in the Parish Conference Room. For adults needing only the Sacrament of Confirmation, this program is offered in the Fall beginning in October through January, and concludes with Adult Confirmation with Bishop Trudeau in January. All are welcome to join us at our inquiry sessions!

OCIA Adapted For Children

Children who wish, with parent support, to join the Catholic Church, attend the OCIA Adapted For Children Program.

OCIA Adapted For Children is a two-year process. Year 1 is the Inquiry Stage and Year 2 is the Catechumenal Year with reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation at Easter Vigil. Additional preparation, depending upon the needs of each child, may be required.

Please register your child for this program if they are over 7 years of age and unbaptized. A copy of your child’s Birth Certificate is required at the time of registration. Sessions for OCIA Adapted For Children begin at the end of September and are held every Sunday from 9:00am-10:15am for Year 1 and every Sunday from 9:00am-11:00am for Year 2.
